The active ingredient is imidacloprid, which acts on the nervous system of the flea to cause paralysis and subsequent death. Within 12 hours of application, 98-100 percent of fleas are dead. Advantage kills fleas before they lay eggs, so their life cycle is broken at multiple stages. It also kills flea larvae within 20 minutes of contact.

Apply Advantage once a month every month.
•     For dogs, part the pet’s hair between the shoulder blades until you can see the skin. Place the tip of the applicator on the skin. Squeeze the tube twice to apply contents.
•     For dogs up to 20 lbs apply to the skin on a single spot between the shoulder blades.
•     For dogs 21 lbs and over apply to the skin on 3 or 4 spots on the top of the back from the shoulder to the base of the tail.
•     For cats place the applicator tip through the pet’s hair to the skin on the neck at the base of the skull and squeeze the tube twice to apply contents.
•     Use only one applicator per treatment.
