All Stop DE is extremely pure and comes from a water deposit of the diatom Melosira Preicelanica which is made of amorphous silica. Why is this diatom so special? It's shell is stronger and structually superior to other DE. It's shape and hardness keeps it from dissolving in liquid. Because of it's shape, the holes along the diatom's wall allow it to absorb moisture without collapsing; therefore it's used as an anti-caking agent and is considered to be the most effective DE.
Amorphous silica is silica in it's natural occurring state. It is a trace mineral every mammal on the planet needs to live.
DE that is used for swimming pool filters and with pesticides or insect baits is toxic to humans; therefore it is important to understand the difference between regular pool-grade DE and our food-grade DE. Other brands of DE may often include additives (up to 23% by volume)of toxic, harsh chemicals such as pyrethrum, piperonyl butoxide or pesticides and may contain contaminants such as crystaline silica - these products should not be administered near animals or humans. However, our food-grade DE is so safe, it is approved to be used as a an anti-caking agent for grain storage and an organic de-wormer added to livestock and poultry feed.
