Jamie Loves How Sulfinex for Dogs is Tea Tree Oil Free!
I'm writing to thank you for Sulfinex for Dogs. Years ago I had a dog with ringworm and it took weeks to cure and trips to the vet. No complaints here, I was glad it was gone at any price! But when my 7 week old puppy recently came down with a large ringworm patch on her stomach, I wanted to try something faster and milder than the fungicide we'd used before. The Sulfinex cream smelled nice, wasn't greasy, and "Lacy" didn't even know it was on her. The next day, all the redness was gone. The second day any little scales were gone. Today (five days) her skin is healthy, smooth and has healthy looking fur growing back in. The product worked wonderfully and the price is great.

P.S. Thank you for NOT adding Tea Tree oil to the product. I've actually seen it listed on some other brands of dog products. I've been told by friends that tea tree oil can be toxic to dogs.

About Dog Ringworm

Unlike human ringworm, the type of ringworm that is found on dogs may have many different appearances. Ringworm is an infectious skin disease found in dogs.

Click here to find out What Does Canine Ringworm Look like

It can also affect animals including but not limited to: cats, rabbits, chinchillas, ferrets, hedgehogs, cattle, horses and show lambs.

Caused by a highly contagious type of fungus, ringworm is easily transmitted by direct contact with fungal spores on the hair of infected dogs, bedding and/or soil.

Most ringworm starts out as a tiny pimple that quickly gets larger. As the pimple develops and gets larger, it will create scaly or crusty patches of skin and most often includes an extreme loss of hair around the affected area. The hairs around the infected area usually get brittle because the hair shaft has been damaged by the fungus. It is not uncommon if the ringworm infection is serious enough, the hair growth in that area will permanently cease. Dogs usually itch intensely and will often bite the affected area where the sore is.

The sore/rash begins to change its appearance. The center loses the red color and a ring begins to develop with the outer edges slightly raised. In severe cases, multiple rashes and rings may develop that can overlap.

If your dog continue to get new sores while you are treating the old sores, which means that the dog is getting re-infected by stray ringworm spores. It is not a fun job to rid the home of ringworm spores. It takes a lot of work and time; especially if you have more than one pet.

Remember that one dog can be the carrier of ringworm spores and never show any signs of the ringworm infection. If it never touches the skin, your dog will never get infected but can still spread ringworm to other pets and people. That is why all pets in the home should be treated at the same time.

Does My Dog Have Ringworm?

Ringworm will first appear as a small pimple-like growth. It will rapidly begin growing into crusty or scaly, red, raised areas that may blister or ooze. The surrounding hair will become brittle, which will allow it to break easily, causing hair loss and bald spots to appear.

Click here to see dog ringworm symptoms

As the infection grows, the center of the rash will decrease in redness, this causes the round or ring-like shape.

If the ringworm becomes severe enough, many rashes and rings can appear. This will usually occur on Cats, while dogs will usually only have single occurrences. The lesions will usually be seen on the face, ear tips, tail or paws of the animals. However, in horses, the lesions are commonly seen on the saddle area, eyes, legs and girth. Pet owners more often than not will also end up with the ringworm before or during the treatment of the pet.

The most common symptoms include:

  • Patches of hair loss
  • Discoloration
  • Thick, crusty lesions
  • Pustules
  • Thickened, red and weepy skin
  • May result in scarring
  • Brittle hair that may break
  • Swollen lesions
  • Deformed nails and claws
  • Acne
  • Red raised lesions possible by the mouth
  • Constipation, vomiting
  • Excessive shedding

Shelly Saved Precious Time & Money When Treating her Dog with Pets'BestRx!

I own a large breed dog that developed ringworm. What started with one very distinctive ring mark soon spread to three or four. I took my dog to the vet pretty much knowing it was ringworm but hoping they would give me something to make it go away, quickly. Instead they plucked some hairs from the rings for tests, had me purchase a $65.00 bottle of shampoo to "soothe" my dog's skin and go out and buy some Lotrimin. After a week or so, and a hundred plus dollars to the vet, the ringworm had spread to around seven or eight rings and the vet still would not say it was ringworm. I had enough. I started searching online and came across Pets'BestRx Sulfinex Cream for Dogs. I was hesitant at first because I didn't want to spend another $50.00 on top of the hundreds I had spent if the product would not work. Needless to say it was well worth it. I noticed a difference within a day and by day three the rings were fading and some were completely gone. I am very pleased to say that when my vet called to tell me that my dog DID NOT have ringworm and he needed more tests that I was able to tell them all about your product and how it healed my dog. Thank you so much for creating this product! I am so blessed to have found it when I did and I highly recommend it.

Dog Ringworm FAQ's

Will your products also work on dog nail fungus?

Yes, our ringworm products will work on dog nail fungus especially the PetsBestRx Healing Gel. This product should be placed just around the nails on your dog's paw.
You can also put this product on the pads under their paws as well. Normally with regular animal ringworm treatments you can usually tell signs of improvement in the first 24 to 48 hours of treatment. When you are dealing with dog nail fungus it usually takes longer to show signs of improvement. Your dogs nail is made up of dead skin cells and calcium deposits it is not a living piece of the epidermis. You have to wait for the nail to start growing out before you can tell if the treatment is working for your dog.

Will regular shampoo work for dogs with ringworm?

Regular dog shampoos do not work for ringworm because they are not anti-fungal. If you do find an anti-fungal dog shampoo, please make sure it is safe for use on your pet.
We do offer our PetsBestRx Pet Wash which is anti-fungal and also works well for mites and staph infections. The PetsBestRx Pet Wash will also help to rejuvenate the skin and relieve the itching from pet ringworm. This is also safe, nontoxic and non-staining. We do also offer the PetsBestRx Sulfinex Cream, PetsBestRx Healing Gel and PetsBestRx Healing and Protection Spray. The PetsBestRx Pet Wash should be used like a regular dogs shampoo. Leave on the skin for three minutes and then rinse thoroughly.

Will my dog's ringworm go away on its own?

Pet ringworm will not go away if left untreated. If you do not treat the ringworm to kill the spores it will continue to spread on the body. Ringworm can be transferred from animal to animal or from animal to human.
The fungus spores can travel in the air and regenerate and remain on your furniture or carpeting waiting to re-infect your pets. The ringworm fungus burrows under the skin and causes a red raised ring or lesion. The ringworm does not always have to be in the circular fashion, but it usually is accompanied by hair loss. You need to treat your pet for ringworm as soon as you start noticing symptoms. The longer the ringworm remains on the skin and the farther it burrows, the longer it will take to treat. It can also cause irreversible damage to the hair follicles.

Wood's Light Ringworm Diagnosis

A Wood's light emits an ultraviolet beam that causes skin fluorescence in the presence of some strains of M. canis. The light must be used for several minutes before fluorescence will appear. If the skin shows no fluorescence, the cat may still have the disease. Based on her experience, Dr. Karen Moriello, University of Wisconsin-Madison, recommends use of an electric light versus a battery-powered model.

MICROSCOPIC EXAMINATION

Your veterinarian may wish to examine some hairs for microscopic spores. If spores can be seen on damaged hairs then the diagnosis of ringworm is confirmed; however, as spores are very difficult to see, many veterinarians skip this step.

Fungal Culture Pet Ringworm Test

There is a fungal culture that can be performed by your Vet and we thought you might be interested to know a little about it.

Fungal Culture: This is the most definitive test. In this test, a toothbrush is used to "comb" the suspect area of the skin and the bristles are then gently "stabbed" into a fungal culture plate.

The culture plate is examined daily for up to 21 days. Pathogens produce pale or white growths. These are then examined under a microscope to diagnose the fungus. Depending on the media that is used, there may be a color change in the media if the fungus is present. Any growth is then examined under a microscope to diagnose the fungus.
